Last updated: October 28, 2026. Rename the Internet is a browser extension from the $SI community at sicto.si. It renames AI to SI in the text of the pages you read. This policy explains what the extension does with data.
To rename words, the extension reads the visible text of the pages you open. That text never leaves your browser. Your settings and your rename counts are saved in your browser's extension storage on your device.
Nothing, unless you turn on the world counter. It is off until you answer the welcome page. If you turn it on, the extension sends to sicto.si, about every 5 minutes and only when there is something new: a rename count (a number), a random install id made when you installed it (not tied to your name, email, accounts or device), and your Passport link code, only if you pasted one.
Page text, page titles, URLs, browsing history, search terms, keystrokes, form contents, cookies, location or any personal data. When you open the popup it downloads the public world total, and that request sends no data about you or the pages you read.
Counts are used only to show the world total, daily totals and the leaderboards here and in the extension. We do not store your IP address with your counts. We never sell data, share it with advertisers or use it for any other purpose.
Turn off the world counter in the popup any time: sending stops right away, and any count not sent yet is deleted. Uninstalling removes all of its data from your browser. Counts already added to the world total are anonymous numbers; to remove counts tied to your install id or Passport, ask us below.
